UltraGrid 1.6. Release

CESNET and the Laboratory of Advanced Networking Technologies (SITOLA) are happy to announce a new stable release of the UltraGrid software for low-latency and high-quality video transmissions over IP networks. The current stable release is versioned 1.6 and is available for download for all supported platforms at http://www.ultragrid.cz/.

The major news in this release include:

• UltraGrid 1.6 adds 10 and 12 bit video support. This includes video capture (depending on used HW), video compression and decompression and video display.
• We have added support for GoPro CineForm (SMPTE VC-5) video codec. Cineform is a 12-bit, full-frame wavelet compression video codec designed for speed and quality. Cineform supports the following pixel formats:
  • 8/10/16-bit YUV 4:2:2 compressed as 10-bit, progressive or interlace
  • 8/10/16-bit RGB 4:4:4 compressed at 12-bit progressive
  • 8/16-bit RGBA 4:4:4:4 compressed at 12-bit progressive
  • 12/16-bit CFA Bayer RAW, log encoded and compressed at 12-bit progressive
  • Dual channel stereoscopic/3D in any of the above.
  The Compression ratio between 10:1 and 4:1 is typical, greater ranges are possible.
• UltraGrid now comes with basic Ximea cammeras support.
• We have implemented NDI video capture and playback support.
• UltraGrid now supports AJA video display and audio playback with suitable AJA HW.
• We have added native Windows 10 audio capture and playback support through the Windows WASAPI.
• We have improved the Windows screen capture.
• New version of GPUJPEG including RGBA and I420 YUV format support.
• We have implemented new capture filters and postprocessors - change_pixfmt, crop, gamma and matrix.
• GUI improvements.
• We have improved the codebase to ensure the compatibility with latest macOS versions.
